Demonstration of the Changes to the Antenna Structure Registration (ASR) System

The demonstration included guidance on changes in the process for applicants to file FCC Form 854, Antenna Structure Registration (Form 854) and on the new process for members of the public to file requests for environmental review stemming from the implementation of the environmental notification process for the registration of antenna structures.

FCC Low Power FM and FM Translator Public Forum

The focus of the forum was how pending FM translator applicants from the 2003 Auction 83 window and pending and prospective FM translator modification applicants will be processed, in accordance with changes implemented by the Commission in the LPFM proceeding (MM Docket 99-25). Time was provided for audience questions and comments.

FCC Colocation Workshop

The FCC's Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, in cooperation with the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA), hosted a workshop focusing on colocations of wireless and broadband antennas on wireless and other communications towers (e.g. AM Radio towers) and structures (e.g. water towers)

FCC Environmental Compliance Prior to Construction Workshop

The FCC's requirements for environmental compliance prior to the construction of communications facilities are explained in this day-long training program hosted by WTB. The sessions focused on compliance for Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and for the National Environmental Policy Act. Among the presenters were staffs from many FCC Bureaus and from USDA Rural Utilities Service, DOC National Telecommunications and Information Administration, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and from the State Historic Preservation Offices in Maryland, Virginia, and Georgia.

FCC Spectrum Efficiency and Receiver Performance Workshop (2-Day Workshop)

As part of the Commission’s efforts to enhance the use of spectrum for mobile broadband, the FCC Office of Engineering and Technology, in conjunction with the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and the Office of Strategic Planning hosted a workshop on "Spectrum Efficiency and Receiver Performance."

FCC Workshop on Deployable Aerial Communications Architecture

The first panel focused on how enabling the use of deployable aerial communications architecture (DACA) can help ensure that critical communications are available within the first few hours after a catastrophic event for a period of between 72 and 96 hours. The second panel addressed the types of technologies that are available for DACA and how they can serve the need for immediate communications after a major disaster, when terrestrial communications may not be available. The final panel considered technical issues associated with the deployment of DACA for emergency communications, including interference concerns.
