While trained personnel can visualize the terrain contours presented on the flat map, untrained personnel can readily determine (see) the actual terrain features using the enhanced 3-dimensional map of the same area.

3-D enhancement of terrain contour maps and views are available for all areas within the United States and serve as a starting point in the selection process for radio or television transmitter sites.
